We’re pleased to announce the launch of two new ventures for The Knott. We’ve introduced two new shop applications into the site.
A new CD shop where you can purchase the audio CDs that we have available and a new Merchandise store where you can buy T-Shirts, mugs, teddy-bears… well, basically anything we can stick a photo or the band name on.
These two stores are powered by two different services on the web so the methods of purchasing/payment are slightly different.
CD Store
We can only accept bank transfers for payment for CDs at the moment. When you check out, you’ll be given the details of how to make your payment and you’ll need to initiate a transfer (using the order number as the reference) from your own bank. It’s not the most ideal, but we’ve got no hope of obtaining a merchant account to accept credit cards at the moment and the service we’re using to power this store doesn’t allow for paypal (which we can accept Credit cards through). We can accept cheques if you prefer, in order to pay using a cheque, complete the order and checkout as normal and then email us using the contact form in the store with your order number to obtain our postal address. Make sure you send your email address so that we can get back to you. When you send your cheque, make sure you write your order number on the back and when it’s cleared, we’ll send you your CDs. Simple.
Merchandise Store
This is our favourite. You can purchase T-Shirts with the band’s name on, or mugs with our ugly mugs on! You can even get a Knott Teddy!
You can even (eventually) create your own designs right from our store. Simply click on the Merch link at the top of the site to visit our store. When you choose an item, you’ll be taken away from this site (just to warn you) but you needn’t worry it’s all legit and endorsed by us. Alternatively, you can visit our Merch store directly at theknott.spreadshirt.net.
We hope you’ll enjoy using the stores and buy lots and lots of lovely things for you, your Mum, your girlfriend/boyfriend and anyone else you can think of. If you do buy any t-shirts etc, then please please wear them to the gigs you come to. Anyone seen wearing a The Knott t-shirt at a gig will automatically get a free CD from the band. Now we can’t say fairer than that!
We’ve just gone through two major changes to the site. Number one was moving to a new hosting service and number two was updating the underlying ‘engine’ of the site, the marvelous WordPress. Neither process was without it’s issues, but we appear to be up and running on new servers with an upgraded backend… although not perfectly…
As a result, we seem to be having a few minor issues with pages not loading or Server Errors appearing. If this happens to you, simply reload/refresh the page and you should be ok. Not sure why it’s happening at the moment, but I’ll be investigating over the coming couple of days.
Watch this space for further enhancements - such as an all new look, more info, more music the list goes on.
As a teaser, I’ve uploaded a preview of what the site ‘might’ look like… (it’s still being worked on). Please feel free to comment on it.
It’s about time I posted something, so I’ve added some new photos to the gallery and now I can tell you about it.
There’s some really cool pictures taken by Lisa & Darren Coleman of Puttyfoot Promotions - awesome stuff. Have a gander anyway.
There you are - done.
More news soon.
First of all, I just wanted to say, on behalf of the whole band, a MASSIVE “Thank You” to everyone who came down to the 12 Bar last Thursday (31 May 2007) to see us. And a just-as-massive “Thank You” to those who weren’t there particularly to see us, but stayed around for the whole set anyway. You all did us proud and we’re so glad you came. You made our year we’re telling you!
We all had the best time on Thursday and are still bouncing around now on the back of it. We’ve had some wicked comments/messages on our MySpace page so thanks everyone very much. Read more about this post
Hey Peeps, loyal readers of the occasional The Knott Blogged!
We’ve been really busy over the past couple of months with new songs, new website content and new opportunities in the pipeline.
As you know by now, Andy’s been back ages, we’ve gone through Christmas and a couple of gigs in December and we’ve also completed our first gig of 2007 at The Vic in Swindon. This appearance also provided us with an opportunity to get some live recordings so watch this space for more information about that. In the meantime, you can view the pics of the gig at our media page and then by clicking on the gallery link.
From the same page you can also hear some tunes that we host with iSound and watch the video on YouTube filmed, directed and edited by Mark Newson.
There’s also information on the Gigs page now as well - although not much as we’ve not got a huge amount booked yet. Get in touch via our MySpace page or comment on this blog if you want to book us…
I’ve also updated our Biog to reflect the fact that Roy joined us at the tale end of last year in order to become our full time skin-basher and has helped push the band to new heights. Listening to the recordings from The Vic gig on 15th February just shows how far we’ve come in our live performances.
No, they’re not word perfect and no they’re not always in tune (there’s a reason there’s no recording of Politics For Lunch being publicly broadcast! LOL!) but they’re tight and we’re focusing a lot on getting the dynamics of each song right. This will bear even more fruit when we hopefully unleash our next two tunes, “Such A Shame” and “Gone Fishing” on the world.
So what else is happening, well, short term, we’re going to be appearing on PulseRated.com and longer term we’re aiming to record an album in the 2nd half of this year. In between, we hope to be gigging a lot more and further afield so that more people can get to hear the wonder that is The Knott.
Big headed? Self Indulgent? Probably both of those, but when you believe in the music you’re making - well, why not?
Till next time….
Peace.
Hi all,
Just a brief post to let you know what I’ve been up to.
Changed the photo for Wake The Nation on our myspace site although there seems to be a bug in the system and I had to delete the song and reupload it with the new photo. No major problem although now we’re not credited with the 189 plays it had had in the past 5 days. To be fair, I don’t have a clue as to how many plays is good or bad, but I reckon almost 40 a day is pretty bloody good for an unsigned band’s first DEMO release! It bodes well for the future methinks
Anyway - we can just start counting again and at least now we have a record here of how many hits we had.
Speaking of hits, it’s exactly one month tomorrow since I started the myspace site and we’ve had 439 hits as of today. Again, pretty good going for our first month’s presence after only two gigs and one band recording released. Big smiles all round
So on top of that, I’ve signed up with SwindonMusic.co.uk as well to get a presence on there. You can find the link in the links box (that’s surprising isn’t it?…). Should help drive some traffic and interest our way
So, looking forward to the next gig on 9 June at The Bear in Marlborough. Going to try and organise a nice visual experience to accompany the band too… gonna have to see how that pans out though!
Laters
I’ve just made a slight tweak to this site. I realised that there was a link to view the comments but no link to actually POST a comment. So I added it quickly.
Anyone can post comments so let us know what you think.
About the rehearsal today, I agree with Andy, it was definitely the most productive time we’ve spent together to date. We got 6 tracks down - they still need to be mixed but we were pretty pleased with our performances I think.
To be fair, I’m a perfectionist, so I won’t be happy with my own performance and those slight timing issues or innocent bum notes will jump out of the speaker and smack me round the head! But all in all, as a demo, we should get something decent out of it. At least the visitors to our MySpace site will be able to hear what we do!
And the tune we penned collectively at the end! Wow! It’s called “Road To Freedom” (at the moment it is at least!) and I reckon it’s going to be our ‘flagship’ song. It grooves, it’s got a great chorus and I haven’t stopped humming it yet!
Anyway - baby needs feeding - got to go!
