We’re here, set up and Roy’s kicking shit out of the drums as I speak. We’re all running on adrenalin and coffee at the moment and psyched to the max!
So Roy’s just this second finished his drum leveling , and me (andy) has just taken over from matt writing this.
Matts in bass leveling now and i haven’t been this excitied since my wife’s waters broke. Just waiting for my turn now…………
and now Matt’s back ‘cos I’m a fast worker!!
Andy’s turn to soundcheck and then we’re off (Without Lee) to record the instrumentals for the first track. Awesome. Will be back in a bit to update!
Update - 7:50am Sunday 1 July 2007….
Well, we worked so hard yesterday and got so wrapped up in the whole shenanigans of recording that we completely forgot to get back on the site and keep you posted. HAHAHA! Oh well - what we got, we got GOOD! I’m still a bit blurry eyed at the moment, trying to wake up and come down from the high of hearing our best recording effort to-date. The new CD was played at full volume all the way home from the Studio in the car and we’re over the moon with the end result.
But I’ll post a bit more later when my brain (and fingers) have regained their full functionality. I might even (read that as a WILL) get some new MP3s up on the site as well

A new venue for us and a massive launch party with some big name acts that we’re going to get to play alongside. Excitement about this one doesn’t even begin to explain how we’re currently feeling!
Anyway - we’re looking forward to the gig on the whole and it looks like it’s going to be a fun one whatever the outcome! LOL - see you there.

The NIGHT of the OCELOT - In conjunction with new Entertainment Magazine “The OCELOT”, Riff’s Bar host an evening of the finest new talent to come from the area…and beyond! This months bands are The ALFONZ, The Purple Streams and Dominic French - (except one of those has probably dropped out as we’re playing! - just waiting for details…)
Plus the OCELOTTERY, yeah baby!

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Mary from Lowestoft who has become our very first producer of the forthcoming album. Her contrubition has kicked off our Album Fund in brilliant style. Thank you thank you!
Don’t forget, you can donate to the album fund here and every single penny really will help and really will go towards recording the full album in the very near future.
On a similar note, we’re off into the studio next Saturday to record a better set of demos (or possibly an EP, we haven’t decided yet) than we currently have. We’re planning to try and record 5 songs, but will definitely record 3 or 4 in the time we have. With the resulting tracks on CD, we hope to be able to persuade a few more venues and promoters what you and we already know - that they should get us on their stages!
So, if you’ve been to see us, and you know the songs, leave us a comment to tell us which songs you want us to record. We’ve got our ideas, but if public opinion outweighs ours, then we’re big enough to take it and will at the end of the day - we’ll listen to our public! LOL
So sign up, and let us know. We’re dying to hear from you.

Lee & I are performing an acoustic set since Andy announced he wasn’t able to play the gig (sorry Roy!
). Should be a good ‘un though. Come along and lend your ears!

Having seen The Knott on a few prior occasions together with the fact that I have their demo CD always close to hand in my car, I knew that I was in for another good show. Except that this time it would be different as the night was billed as an acoustic special and The Knott as we all well know are a full-on very satisfying indie-rock sound, so it was fair to say that there was a large helping of curiosity lightly dressed with a portion of apprehension in my mind as I sat awaiting the start of their set.
Following on from a night of experienced, well proven acoustic acts The Knott took to the stage less their drummer, Roy. A 12-string guitar replaced Matt’s usual trademark black Yamaha bass and on the other side of stage sat Andy with a 6-string and total absence of effect pedals. As frontman Lee took position between his companions it became obvious that tonight, without that wall of sound that he usually climbs on top of and sings aloft from, tonight Lee Knott and his merry men would indeed be tested.
As the set started the unexpected took hold, here was a band that I hoped, well expected to be able to hold their own headlining an acoustic mini-fest, what I did not predict was for them to totally exceed my (and indeed many others) expectations, from the opening number, to which I have to admit to being entertained by Lee’s singing “me, him and him and….those” as the mismatch of the number of members on the night influenced the lyrics of the song, through to the end of the set I was transfixed. When I say ‘transfixed’ I feel the need to quantify the extent, I’m talking ‘transfixed’ to the point that my beer glass remained empty till the last chord was strummed!
The vocals, the harmonies, the guitars, everything was just so ‘right’, The Knott’s usual great sound was taken to another level,
songs I’ve heard many times before entered a new dimension of feeling and meaning. To say that I was impressed does not even come close.
Should I be disturbed that even now, Lee’s voice is still in my head singing “?¢‚Ǩ¬¶we all become pictures on the wall?¢‚Ǩ¬¶”? No, I think not. One thing that I have learned along the way is there is a lot to be said for a song that sticks (and is welcome) in your head after the event, the set provided many. This was the first time that The Knott has performed an acoustic set, I’m pretty certain that it’ll not be the last, contact the band, contact your local venue, shout at local promoters, do whatever it takes to make it possible to see and hear this for yourselves! Trust me, you’ll not be disappointed.
What a night…! Absolutely mental.
Everyone who was at Riff’s Bar last night was treated to a total of 5 acts, all performing acoustically, in the end following Teabo’s last minute cancellation as a result of a sore throat. The poor guys have been gigging so hard lately it must have really taken it out of them for them not to show. Hope you’re feeling better soon buddy. But the remaining 5 acts didn’t disappoint at all taking the patrons of Riff’s through an eclectic mix of acoustic music that really did delight and in some cases surprise!

Tomorrow nights the night when The Knott are reduced to 3 men for one night only.
A sailing trip (real rock & roll! Just look at Simon Le Bon…) is taking Roy away from us this weekend so Andy, Lee & myself have decided to crack on, put away the effects and play acoustic guitars for y’all! ;o)
We’ve been rehearsing, tweaking and playing with all of our songs over the past week and we think you’re gonna like what you hear. All of the songs except 2 (I think) were originally written on an acoustic guitar so it’s not been a huge departure for us to transfer the songs back there. But some of the differences are fantastic and we’re really looking forward to sharing them! But this DOESN’T mean a departure for The Knott! We’ll be back with all our electriceffectshit in full abundance, at a venue near you, soon!
By the way, also playing tomorrow night are The Squirrels, The Arbitors and I believe somebody else although details have been sketchy sorry…
BUT… ALL the bands have been booked to play acoustically and it’s certainly going to be treat to see The Squirrels and The Arbitors performing their stuff stripped down to basics (the tunes, not the band members - although you never know!).
Anyway - look forward to seeing you there tomorrow night. Be good.
[UPDATE: Sat 9th June]
I now have details of the full line up tonight. The bands on (in order of appearance) are:
- Teabo
- Ivy Tillsby’s Plastic Surgeon (have I spelt that right? Sorry if I haven’t boys)
- The Squirrels
- The Arbitors
- Billy Jon
- The Knott
6 bands for your entertainment. I believe that the cover price is ?Ǭ£3 so that’s 50p per band! Now you definitely can’t say better than that. See you tonight.
