So we’ve been a bit quiet the last couple of weeks, but fear not - The Knott have not abandoned you!
Since the release of the Why Knott? EP, we played a gig at The Bear in Marlborough. Now, personally, I don’t think that we’ll be invited back there again. First of all, the landlord sort of told us a porky pie and told us his pub would be “rammed” until the kicking out time of 1am (when he had towels over his pumps at 12!) but not only did he shut at 12 (not 1) but all his punters left at 11 to go to the bars in town that DID have a 1am license!
So when The Knott finally went on at around 11:15 (at the landlord’s request) we were playing to no-one and feeling mightly pissed off with the whole affair. Then, some frankly diabolical playing from certain quarters of the band completely destroyed everyone’s morale and we dwindled into a musical pit of despair.
Songs were played too fast, songs were played too slow.
Songs were stopped in the middle of Fu**ing solos! For Crying Out Loud!
Anyway - following this gig, our drummer, Sam, has left us. It was a mutual decision and he has left on amicable terms. Which we’re all pleased about. But that’s left us in a bit of a predicament as we had a gig booked for tonight (22 June) at The Vic in Swindon (yeah, almost all of our gigs are in Swindon at the moment - we need management!) and we have no drummer!
JIM JIM TO THE RESCUE!
We have been saved by the masterful Jim Jim Eddings, a believer from the start and a friend to us all. Jim came in to the rehearsal room with us just last night to learn the songs for tonight’s set.
Combined with Andy having a family emergency that prevented his attendance until just 1 hour before the end of our finances, it was incredible the performance he put in.
The Knott are back. We’ve done tonight what we knew we could do. With focus and effort from all sides, The Knott put in an astounding performance to a crowd of just 30. However, the reception reaffirmed our own belief in what we’re doing.
Tonight’s performance was just the first step on the rest of the journey. We just hope you’re there with us!
Jim Jim will be back with us on 8 July at The Royal Oak in Swindon, but we are looking for a permanent replacement drummer. If anyone reading this is interested in joining our little band, then email us via the Myspace site (the link’s over there on the right!).
Could be the best thing you ever do! ;o)
I am pleased, nay overjoyed, no, I think bouncing of my F***in’ seat is the way to put it!
The reason? Well, I ‘ve just received the master mix of the three tracks we recorded at the end of May. And they sound fantastic!!!!
The three tunes, Wake The Nation, Politics For Lunch, (both written by Lee Knott and arranged by the band) and our group-penned number Road To Freedom, have been combined into the Why Knott? EP
As I write, I am uploading the tracks to MySpace and will also be weedifiying them as well and offering them for sale (using the Weedshare system) later this week. Everywhere!
PLUS, we’ll be GIVING AWAY copies of the EP (in the Weed format) at our gigs this month so make sure you’re there to get one! It’s the only way you can earn money out of listening to our tunes.
Full instructions will be on the CD/Cover
Have fun. I am

Well after an evening like the one we had tonight ,you realise history can take place in the oddest places, sometimes in the most obvious places tonight it was the birth of The True Confidence Lord and his bands Demo Tracks!……..
RECORDIND ROUND DRUMMERBOYZ(ANDY R) !!!!!!!!!!DEMO BLISS!!!!!!!!!
The Knott are astounded by the response recieved since starting on their Journey into The WHY KNOTT Tour / Fact Finding mission. We could not be any more pleased with the introduction of recording buddy Andy R , friend ,drummer, sound engineer and recording sponge! ( With that I mean he understands just what you need, want and must have!!) Tonight, Andy R , Matt Mad Keeble and Largeit “Lee” The Knott were lucky enough to spend the evening with non other than; Wake the Nation,Politics for Lunch and Road to Freedom ,three songs Largeit Lee knott Wrote, Matt monsta Keeble ,Co Wrote and Andy Daddy cool Dickinson Gave Birth! But he also co wrote !!(Hopefully) to a beatifull baby girl… What a night ! Calling all true musicians out there, those who love what they do,those that do what they do because they dont know anything else! Lets Bring Swindon to its knees with sheer diversity, honesty and origionality, Buswell are doing it ,Gabby young Collective are doing it,Beat Bullyz are doing it and Jeff like usual are strutting down the High street too , the problem comes with sharing the Drive with The Knott!!!!,We/I will stop at nothing when it comes to trying to whisk Swindon away to where it belongs !! People talk about manchester, Liverpool and ahem… London as though they are the only places good musical movements are born.
Three good songs were turned into three great songs tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
During the month of JUNE( this month) The Knott are finally recording the video’s to Wake the Nation and Politics for Lunch, it is sure to be a month of joy and smiles(its not every day you get to do some of the things you dreamed of doing to the standard you wanted or the standard your capable of.
The whole essence of music (In my opinion of course!) is it should be caught in its freshest and most firtile moment……..live! Tonight has been a revelation !!!! Simple sound tweeks and un cluttered songs is what we want to perfect along with subliminal messages and the obvious foot tap,it was achieved tonight and big smiles all round……..
The Knott are now Playing The Victoria, in Swindon 22 June Supporting Fickle public and Dystophia(both signed acts,Distophia were on tour with Hard Fi over the Winter)
It also looks like Manchester could be getting Knotted soon too, dates and places will be revealed when the time is right!!!! Support Our Cause! Stop Apathy…Be bold and creative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi All,
Just to let you know, I’ve added our profile to ISounds.com. You can check us out here and have a look round the site.
They have loads of useful tools for musicians and listeners alike and when we start to earn a little money, they even have paid-for tools that we can subscribe to to further our cause even more.
The link’s been added to the link box on the right hand side too so we can’t lose it! ;o)
So what else has been happening? Well, not a lot that I can take time to write about now, but if I say, watch this space for information about the recordings and a VERY exciting gig opportunity, does that whet your appetite enough??
Until I get time to post some more then - keep cool!
