Sorry, I haven’t had a chance to post yet, but we performed our 2nd Gig at Jax Bar in West Swindon on Thursday night and I think we’re all agreed that we had a great time.
Personally, the set of 30 minutes went so quickly that I had hardly started when we stopped, but we seemed to go down ok amongst the audience made up of not only some people that had come to see us (cool… thanks everyone! :D) but also the other 3 bands that were on as well.
Some reunions were seen on Thursday as well. I met Tim Hawkins, the singer/guitarist of Not Normal who played second about 7 years ago and fell out of touch with him in 2000, but now I can get his old demos back to him that I’ve been hording for the past 6 years! Good to see you Tim.
It would appear that GWR didn’t actually record any of the bands on on Thursday, although they have been raving about the night on air since apparently. However, we were a bit pissed off that they had pictures up on their site of the other 3 bands but not of us. About 10 pics in all and we don’t feature at all! Come on GWR, give us a break and at least post our pics! If you care, email them and tell ‘em you wanna see us! ;op
Anyway - I’m waiting for the photographer to get me some pics. As soon as I have them, I’ll post them here! Til then, keep kicking it!
Just heard from the promoter and had confirmation that we’re going on 2nd on the line up at about 10pm on Thursday.
The full line up is (in running order)
* NotNormal
* The Knott
* Jeff Like Usual
* Diskasta
It’s going to be a hell of a night. Hope you can make it! Here’s the flyer to wet your appetite! (Flyer removed since…)
Last night we had our first gig as a propper band , with matt and about 5 or 6 new songs we’d never played live before and i gotta say we rocked! . I loved every minute of the live performance , a few hickups but not bad really .
As i can tell by reading matt blog he enjoyed it , Captain Mandate of course rocked the gig after our set , in a true band been playing together-forever-funk-style-y .
But i thought we were ace.
After wards i may have been a bit quite but i have been fighting illness the last couple of days , so was feeling a bit sick after wards . Plus the guilt fact of leaving my heavily pregnant wife at home alone , plus because i was designated driver it ment i couldn’t sink a few beers with the lads . But i suppose this is the price of fame and an overly active reproductive instinct lol
Another gig on thursday , and on the radio tooo , good god !!!!!!!1
Gig One : Recorded on a webcam with an awsome crowd in a great atmosphere
Gig Two : Recorded for local radio at a night club
So logicly gig three would be on the telly and by gig ten i guess we own the world and never have to work again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wouldn’t that be nice ………..
So till thursday Knottsters i’ll see you later
- Andy
Dooooood!!!
Our first gig last night was a roaring success, it has to be said.
We were at the Royal Oak in Old Town for our inaugral gig last night supporting Captain Mandate (who were F***in’ Awesome by the way, thanks guys!).
It has to be said, it got off to a bad start with 3 quarters of our band arriving over an hour late and delaying the soundchecks etc, but thanks to maestro matt, we got some sound checks done in about 20 minutes and kicked off the set at just after 9pm.
Our 40-ish minutes of set turned into over an hour and we ended up having to drop about 3 numbers towards the end. Don’t worry though ‘cos I’m sure they’ll be in the next set we do!
For me, it was the first live performance I’ve done since September last year, and I have to say - I’m glad that it was with The Knott that I re-entered the hot sweaty practice of gigging.
There was so much energy on stage (which doesn’t quite come through in the pics here unfortunately - you had to be there ;o) ) it’s just a shame that there wasn’t more room in front of the drum-riser made from pallets cos if there had been, no doubt Andy and I would have been running from side to side of the stage producing more “rock-poses” than your average lycra-clad rock gods! LOL.
We got a couple more gigs out of it too. You can find the dates on our myspace account but for ease, basically - we’re now playing at Jax next Thursday (27 April 2006) and then we have a gig somewhere (Lee can tell us where) on 9 June and then back at the Royal Oak on 2 July 2006.
Come along and see what we’re up too!
Until the next time I post… cheers!
OK, so we still don’t know about the webcam stuff. We’ve not been able to get hold of the pub for one reason or another so no confirmation has been forthcoming. BUT - we’re psyched! We’re ready and raring to go.
We’re now supporting Captain Mandate who I’ve not seen yet but I’m looking forward to hearing them tonight. From what I’ve been told, they’re awesome. Which is why we decided to go on first to be honest ;o) They’ve got tons of gigs under their belt, this is our first after 4 rehearsals … the reasons are clear
So, only 4 hours or so until we’ll be up there setting up. The nerves are building and it’s getting closer with every word I write.
I’ll post some pics and stuff here tomorrow. I’ll also put some piccies and hopefully some recordings on our MySpace account too.
Take care y’all, hope to see you tonight.
Lee phoned me last night and told me that there was a possibility that this first gig of ours tomorrow night could be broadcast via a webcam across the internet.
Hopefully, we’ll have some more details at rehearsal tonight (off in about 45 minutes) and i’ll post them later on if we do.
Will link to it via this blog and also our myspace site.
Never know, in a couple of months we could be following in the footsteps of that scottish performer who was receiving 60,000+ viewers of our webcam shows… would be cool!
Hi this is me , the guitarist saying hello on this wonderful blog thing .
Erm so gig on Friday prac on thursday , kind of nervous about it but allways get nurvey before a gig . Sets pretty cool ,well rehearsed and pretty tight .
Hope to get some demos and live recordings and photos and some of lees art on here so you can get a better idea about us .

Andy
OK, so here’s our blog. This is the place to find out what we’re doing, how we’re feeling and what’s going on inside those twisted muso minds of ours…
So who are The Knott? The Knott are a band, based in Swindon, Wiltshire in the UK and we play ROCK! Heard it all before? Not like this you haven’t!
We’ve been a band for oooh, 4 weeks now and on Friday 21st (yes, this Friday) we have our first gig. Going on with 13 original songs under our belts (haven’t we been working hard?!) and one cover that I used to do with my previous band.
The Knott are made up of:
- Lee Knott - Vox, guitars, harmonica, penny whistle (yes… penny whistle!) and percussion (well… tambourine really, but it all counts)
- Andy Dickinson - Lead/Rhythm guitars
- Sam Bailey - Drums
- Matt Keeble (me) - Bass/Vox
As I mentioned, we’ve been rehearsing together for about 4 weeks now and we’ve been working HARD. We’ve got one more rehearsal on Thursday before the big night but I think, apart from a few (healthy) first night nerves, we’re all there, we’re all fired up and we’re all gonna kick some proverbial arse!
If you’re in the area and you fancy coming to hear us (and see us) then we’re playing at the Royal Oak in Old Town, Swindon. It’s on the corner of Nelson St & Devizes Road and get there early - it’s going to be RAMMED! It’s free to get in and there’s a ?Ǭ£2 per pint night on too - so, cheap booze, some great new music and your night is sorted my son!!
If you’re not in the area, no worries. We intend to keep this blog going with all of our progress and we’ll post some pictures and sounds (demos mainly) here as we go so you can see and hear what we’re doing.
Once we’ve got some decent recordings, keep an eye out for our Weed tracks on Listen To This! too. In fact, why not head over there now as you’ve done reading this - they’ve got some equally cool stuff. Especially recommended are The Paper Trail and Kashmir.
Anyway - that’s it for now - come back soon and we’ll keep you posted (excuse the pun!)
