We’re Vodafone Live Music Awards Nominees!!

Posted by The Knott

Yes, you did indeed read that correctly! We’ve been nominated for the Best Unsigned Band award at this year’s Vodafone Live Music Awards, to be held at Carling Academy Brixton on 18th September 2008!!!

We have still to find out if we will actually make it to the final four nominees but we should find that out within the next week or two!

So, keep your fingers crossed for us and we’ll keep you updated.

Welcome to the Cheap Seats

Hi all - we’ve just signed up another gig - bit short notice but hey…

We’re going to be playing at 12 Bar, on Westcott Place in Swindon, on 23rd July supporting We Push Buttons and Decora (check them both out!)

The good news is that while this gig is £5 to gain entry, we’ve been told that we can give a list of names to the promoter and those people will get in for just £4 - that’s 20% guys and gals - not to be sniffed at!

So we thought the fairest thing to do was put everyone on our mailing list down on the concession list. If everyone can make it, then we’re going to have a great show! So if you’re not on the mailing list yet, sign up below and if you are then you’re getting in cheap anyway :) - but don’t stop there. Get your friends, mothers, sisters and brothers to sign up (and anyone else you can think of) and most importantly, get along to the gig!

See you there

The Knott’s Debut TV Performance!

Posted by The Knott

We’ve been on the telly. If you tuned into Red TV (Sky 186) on Tuesday or Saturday at around 8:30pm this week, you will have heard the dulcet tones of the band singing Live In Doubt in the Regional Finals of Live & Unsigned in Bristol. The highlights of the show were broadcast on TV this week.

OK, so we didn’t make it to the National Final, but hey, we had a great time, met some great people (we’re talking about you Food Fighters!) and got to be on telly. So all’s well that ends well.

Don’t forget, you can click through to youtube.com to get a better quality version (click the link under the video on Matt’s youtube page to get it). Oh, and don’t forget to leave a comment and pass it on to your entire address book! :)

See ya soon,

Gutted! Bikers discriminated against and The Knott gigless!

We found out a couple of days ago that unfortunately, we’re no longer going to be playing at the Welsh National Motorbike Show next weekend.

Apparently, the Dyfed-Powys Police decided that the risk of “Violence between Rival Biker Gangs” (you can read into that the Hells Angels and Outlaws) was too great and as a result, the show’s organisers have had their license revoked one week before the show was due to start.

Well, I have a personal message to the ‘authorities’ and that’s basically, “You’re full of it!”. I have attended the Welsh National Motorcycle Show (being a ‘biker’ myself) for 6 of the last 7 years, and I can honestly say that I have never seen a single incident of violence of any kind there. Despite everyone enjoying copious amounts of alcohol (and whatever recreationals might take their fancy). All I have ever experienced at this wonderful annual event is friendliness, a genuine family atmosphere and a lot of fun.

Steve Bennett, the show’s organiser is quite rightly considering legal action against these bureaucrats as his company, Welsh Motorcycle Shows Ltd (which organises the event) were not included in the discussions and were only told after a decision had been made. Hardly a free country then…

In my personal opinion, you’ve got more chance of being the victim of violence, or even witnessing violence of any kind, in any major UK town or city every single weekend evening as the pubs kick out than you have at a bike show and what really riles me, is that the decision ‘appears’ to have been made on the back of a single incident at the Bulldog Bash last year (which is actually run by and for Hells Angels apparently) and yet that event’s license for this year does not appear to be in jeopardy at all - so where’s the consistency.

We would like to offer our support to Mr Bennett and Welsh Motorcycle Shows Ltd and if there is anything that we can do to aid them in their legal action then we will gladly stand up and be counted.

Anyway - we look forward to the next time we get an opportunity to do a show for them as they’re all a great bunch of guys and gals and we love them all!

If you want to read more about this story, here’s some links from around the web:

And a couple of stories about the completely ridiculous (and contradictory) decision about the Bulldog Bash being allowed to go ahead - remember that this is the event that preceded a murder of a biker, by a rival gang, on a British motorway:

Anyway - that’s me done. I’ve said my peace. Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunny (hopefully) Bank Holiday, whatever you’re up to…

Peace!

We’re Gonna Be On Telly

Red TV (Sky 186)I had to create a new category for this post. Telly Appearances! ‘Cos we’re gonna be appearing and performing on that there telly box as a result of our participation in Live & Unsigned.

Our final is being broadcast on 13th May, at 8pm and repeated the following Saturday at 8pm. But of course don’t forget to watch the rest of the shows too! Every Tuesday at 8pm and repeated Saturday.

We had so much fun being there and especially doing our ‘piece to camera’ LOL - what a laugh!

Anyway - don’t forget, Red TV (Sky 186) at 8pm on 13th May.

PS, if anyone wants to hold a viewing party, especially as none of the band have SKY subscriptions, that would be tops - leave a comment or something! LOL
